Crystal IS is one of the largest and most sophisticated manufacturers of industrial-grade UVC LEDs. Digital Aerolus developed the Aertos 120-UVC disinfection drone using Crystal IS’ Klaran WD Series UVC LEDs, specially designed for healthcare, consumer, and commercial water purification.
Crystal IS uniquely produces only UVC LEDs and on a proprietary substrate, which allows the high-volume production of high output devices in the ideal germicidal range between 260 nm to 270 nm.

How Does UVC Disinfection Work?
UVC disinfection is a unique measure of disinfection that does what the other cleaning protocols cannot: UVC inactivates pathogens by damaging their DNA structure, so they cannot reproduce and, ultimately, spread throughout a room or surface.

In general, depending on the type of surface and the specific virus, UVC light emitted in the wavelength range of 260 nm to 265 nm is the gold standard for effective for disinfection of surfaces. Klaran LEDs emit UVC energy at 265nm.
What Are UVC LEDs?
UVC LEDs are small devices that emit ultraviolet (UV) light to destroy dangerous pathogens in water, surface, and air. UVC LEDs are built into the Aertos 120-UVC drone design to emit at ideal germicidal wavelengths and provide reliable on-demand disinfection.
Compared to UV lamps, which must continuously be operating and require annual replacement, UVC LEDs are on only for on-demand disinfection.
A UVC Light Emitting Diode (LED) is an extremely compact semiconductor diode that emits photons in the range of 230 nm to 280 nm, that is the Ultraviolet (UV) “C” range. Photons in this range can be used to inactivate dangerous pathogens in water, surface, and air. Given the small size of UVC LEDs, these devices can be easily designed-in to a variety of products – such as water purifiers, medical devices, air purifiers, and now drones – to provide adequate disinfection.
Successful surface disinfection using UVC LEDs depends on the distance of the Aertos® drone and UVC LED light intensity.
How Effective are Klaran UVC LEDs for Disinfection?
Klaran UVC LEDs are compact and cost-effective UVC emitters that facilitate long life water, air, and surface disinfection systems. Achieving high-intensity output at the most effective wavelengths for disinfection, a single Klaran UVC LED can provide on-demand disinfection.
